About

Scott L. Bedell, an up and coming theatrical designer and manager, has worked across Chicago and Illinois while working to improve his skills in the theatrical community.  Bedell takes immense pride in his scenic, sound, and projection designs; as well as, his work as a production manager, technical director, theatre adviser,  and audio engineer.  In addition to all of his theatrical credits, Bedell spends his off hours working as a professional photographer.  Bedell’s professional photos are available at Langdon Designs’ Photography.

Currently, Bedell serves as the Assistant District Theatre Manager of the Oswego Community Unit School District 308 in Oswego, IL.  Taking immense pride in assisting in the education of students and helping put on a variety of productions, Bedell looks forward to designing, teaching, training, and presenting some of the finest programs in Northern Illinois.

Prior to his position in Oswego, Bedell served as an independent consultant helping the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville, Illinois re-open after extensive renovations.  After the opening of the Wildey Theatre Bedell decided to stay on at the Wildey Theatre serving as the Production & Technical Director and eventually as the Theatre Manager.

These recent endeavors follow a long history of Bedell’s work in theatre management and theatre education.  Prior to working at the Wildey Theatre, he spent two and a half years working for the Department of Theater and Dance at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville (SIUE).  Prior to this, Bedell had worked across the greater Chicago area.  Working in Pfeiffer Hall, Meiley-Swallows Thrust Theatre, Wentz Concert Hall, and Madden Black Box at North Central College.  Working in both Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace and Drury Lane Water Tower Place.  Finally working at the oldest scenic studio-prior to it closing- Becker Studios.  All of these opportunities allowed Bedell to hone his theatrical skills and gain a plethora of knowledge to share with others.

In addition to his work experience, Bedell received vocational training from representatives of Hamon, BSS, Roland, Bose, Rane, Yamaha, Shure, ETC, and Strand.  Of which Bedell holds a few official certifications and an arsenal of knowledge.

In the future, Bedell looks forward to working with more professionals in the theatrical community.
